Perhaps the most technically advanced pianist of his era, Franz Liszt was noted for astounding improvisations and innovating new forms of music. Like its namesake, LISZT REFERENCE is a marvel of technical command – the latest improvisation upon a revolutionary Vienna Acoustics design that sets a new standard in sound.
OVERVIEW
LISZT REFERENCE features a top section which is a completely independent module which allows us to control and carefully position the critical Music Center. To eliminate the potential for extraneous mechanical information to reach up from the bass cabinet, the Music Center is similarly attached through one centered high grade aluminium turning mechanism. The overall goal with this sophisticated design is to allow the entire Music Center to be positioned at its optimal angle towards the chosen listening position while also being completely isolated mechanically from the bass cabinet.
FEATURES
Advanced Driver Technology
At the heart of the Vienna Acoustics LISZT REFERENCE is an all-new version of the patented 15 cm Flat-Spidercone coincident driver, developed through years of intensive research and refinement. This exceptional driver assembly combines an advanced midrange Flat-Spidercone with an innovative ring radiator tweeter, meticulously manufactured in Scandinavia.
While the Music Center reproduces high and midrange frequencies, three 7" Flat X4P Spidercone woofers with recessed fabric center cones handle low-frequency reproduction within a separate, carefully engineered enclosure.
Precision-Engineered Bass Performance
The bass cabinet incorporates seven internal braces that divide the enclosure into two independently tuned chambers. One chamber houses a single woofer, while the other contains two woofers, each with its own carefully optimized bass-reflex tuning.
The two lower woofers operate in parallel to reproduce the deepest bass frequencies, while the upper woofer ensures a seamless transition to the midrange driver. This sophisticated configuration delivers exceptional bass extension, speed, control, and musical fluidity.
Vienna Acoustics Composite Cone Technology
Vienna Acoustics' proprietary Composite Cone technology is engineered to achieve precise, piston-like movement. Rather than allowing the diaphragm to flex or vibrate inconsistently, the Flat-Spidercone design ensures that the entire radiating surface moves as a unified structure.
The exceptionally rigid yet lightweight cone incorporates precision-engineered rear bracing measuring 18 mm for the bass drivers and 14 mm for the midrange driver. The structure is further reinforced with glass fibers in Vienna Acoustics' advanced X4P™ composite material.
These carefully designed rear braces distribute impulse energy evenly across the cone's surface, allowing each section to respond uniformly. The result is outstanding impulse response, improved accuracy, and exceptional clarity throughout the frequency range.
A defining feature of the LISZT REFERENCE's bass drivers is the recessed 5 cm inverted fabric dome at the center of each Composite Cone. Constructed from woven fabric with a double-coated rear surface, this specialized design was refined through extensive listening tests. An 8 mm recess was found to produce particularly homogeneous and natural sonic results.
The woven fabric center also complements the material characteristics of Vienna Acoustics' silk dome tweeter, contributing to a cohesive and beautifully balanced sound signature.
Coaxial Ring Radiator Tweeter
The LISZT REFERENCE features an advanced coaxial adaptation of the super-tweeter found in Vienna Acoustics' flagship loudspeaker, The Music.
Positioning the tweeter at the center of the midrange driver creates an ideal point-source arrangement, allowing high and midrange frequencies to originate from the same acoustic location. This configuration delivers extraordinary imaging precision, spaciousness, and a remarkably coherent soundstage.
The sophisticated ring radiator design provides exceptional high-frequency resolution and detail while preserving the natural warmth and musicality for which Vienna Acoustics is renowned.
Exceptional Cabinet Construction & Finishes
Beyond its advanced driver technology, the LISZT REFERENCE incorporates an intricately engineered internal bracing structure and carefully designed individual driver enclosures. These elements work together to minimize unwanted cabinet resonances and preserve the purity of the musical signal.
The exterior reflects the same dedication to excellence, featuring beautifully hand-selected wood veneers and deep, lustrous piano lacquer finishes. Every detail demonstrates Vienna Acoustics' commitment to combining acoustic performance with timeless craftsmanship.
Great engineering demands precision. Great design transforms that precision into an artful expression of quality, substance, and elegance.
