In 1953, at age 29, Joseph Grado founded Grado Labs in his family’s south Brooklyn neighborhood of Sunset Park. Joseph became an ambitious entrepreneur and a prolific innovator in the field of audio, developing the first stereo moving coil phono cartridge and obtaining more than 48 patents for his inventions. These innovations led to the development of the full range of Grado cartridges and Grado headphones offered by the company today.
Each set of Grado headphones has a vented diaphragm design that incorporates a large air chamber – allowing them to reproduce an open, natural soundstage. Grado headphones are free of room effects and placement problems, and they minimize interference from external noise. With Grado headphones, you will hear recordings with greater clarity and with deeper bass. All Grado headphones and cartridges are hand-assembled and inspected in Brooklyn, New York.
