The Implementation is State-of-the-Art!

"making handcrafted amplifiers, Doshi Audio, created some great sound driving Wilson Sasha loudspeakers with its Alaap V2.1 full-function preamp ($14,995) and Jhor monoblocks ($18,995 per pair). Although the circuits are based on classic designs from the 1950s, the implementation is state-of-the-art. The phono section is fully-balanced, features a four parallel triode section, and a passive RIAA network. The 90W Jhor power amplifier employs two paris of EL34s, again in a classic circuit with a massive supply and the best associated parts."

Would Happily Listen to For Years - The Refreshing Sound of Doshi!

"Audiophiles carry a scorecard, with column headings such as Imaging, Bass Extension, Coherence, Spatial Solidity, Extended Highs, Fluidity, Midrange Purity... And we are just as likely to be swayed by an audio component that ranks a ten-in-one column, but falls below average in all the others. So, after much introspection, I answered a different question: What system would I happily listen to for years, not months or weeks? My answer was either the refreshingly civilized sound from the Doshi Audio room, which offered the Wilson Audio Sasha speakers (once again small speakers atop subwoofers) and Doshi tube electronics; or the big, wide, and deep sound from the Audio Alternative room, which sported Vandersteen Model 7 speakers powered by Audio Research Reference 250 monoblock amplifiers."

Punchy, Dynamic, Smooth, Non-Fatiguing - Best Sound of the Show

"One of the highlights of the show for me last year was the Doshi line of electronics paired with the Wilson Sasha's that seem to be playing in every other room. This year, the system consisted of an SME Model 20/3 turntable and Series V tonearm with a Koetsu Onyx cartridge, a Wadia S7i CD player as well as a Wadia 171i iPod dock and a Tachnics RS 1506 RTR all serving as front ends. The preamp was the $14,995 Doshi Alaap V2.1 (full function) as well as a Doshi NAB ($9,995) for the RTR. Amplifiers were the Jhor monoblocks ($18,995/pair). This is amazing-sounding gear paired with the Sashas. Punchy, dynamic, smooth, non-fatiguing. Some of the best sound of the show - a Top Five Room."

Doshi Driving the Sasha's - Most Musical!

"At least five demos with Wilson Sasha's. Doshi's amps drive them beautifully. Interestingly to me, the Doshi electronics driving the Sasha's were the most musical."

Really Great Sounding - Great Soul, Staging, Dynamics, Transparency

"Nick Doshi's modded phono/tape preamp was also really great sounding! Had to hear it on the last day - turned out the Wilsons were brand-new and didn't sound good on Day 1. On Sunday, the speakers had started to open-up and his tape pre sounded wonderful - great soul, density, staging, dynamics, transparency, extremes, etc. And after Nick finishes optimizing the head response, should sound even better!"

Sounded Outstanding - Best of the Wilson Rooms

"Tape sources that sounded outstanding at RMAF were in Bruce Brown's rooms and the Doshi Audio room. To me, Doshi was the only room where the Sasha's sounded good. Even on Saturday it was apparent Paragon-Doshi was among the best of the Wilson rooms."

The Sound was Impressive

"Doshi Audio was new to me, but the sound the Doshi Jhor 90W monoblock amp ($18,995/pair) was getting from Wilson Sasha W/P speakers with... an MP3 of Porcupine Tree was impressive."

Great Sound!

"Lots of great tape to be heard at RMAF this year... Nick Doshi premiered his new tape stage in the Wilson Sasha room with his line stage and EL34 amps. Great sound in there - especially on Sunday after the speakers had more time on them... Much fun all around!"

Doshi Audio & Paragon at Rocky Mountain 2010

Doshi RMAF2010 Room

On My List of Fav Show Sounds! You'll be hearing more from Doshi!

"On my list of favorite show sounds was the Paragon Sight and Sound audio room from Ann Arbor, Michigan! Larry Marcus and company used three different mediums (analog LPs, reel-to-reel and digital) played back through the super sounding Wilson Sasha's. But stealing the show were the $18,995 Doshi Jhor monoblock tube amplifiers and $14,995 Doshi Alaap V2.1 Full Function preamplifier. While Doshi isn't exactly a household audio name, you can take it to the bank that you'll be hearing more from this company down the road. Nick Doshi cut his teeth into the audio realm as head engineer for Tribune Television and more recently has been seriously involved in the design of his own electronics line. Doshi's philosophy is very straightforward: simple, elegant designs, best parts, as short a signal path as possible while retaining warmth, purity, and dynamics of tube-based electronics. The "little" 90 watt push-pull EL34-based Jhor monoblock amplifiers had no problems driving the Sasha's. In fact, the sound of the new Sasha's will surprise many Wilson nay-sayers; there was no evidence of that coldness and upper midrange hardness that characterized many prior Wilson designs."

Staggeringly Gorgeous Tone Color - One Beguiling Sound of the Show

"As noted, I heard the $27K Wilson Sasha sound superb in several rooms, here with a beautiful-looking Alaap V2.1 preamplifier and a pair of Jhor monoblock amps from Doshi Audio... the tone color was, once again, staggeringly gorgeous (it may have been a coloration, but it sure was a voluptuous one). Colored or not, this was once of the more beguiling sounds of the show."

Rendered Take-No-Prisoners Rock in Accurately Brash & Brazen Fashion

"Doshi Audio of Virginia was proudly displaying their handcrafted Jhor monoblock amplifiers ($18,995/pair) and Alaap V2.1 full-function preamplifier ($14,995). Partnered with the oft-encountered Wilson Audio Sasha, and Transparent XL series cabling, the system excelled in midrange strength as it threw an exciting soundstage... the system rendered take-no-prisoners rock in accurately brash and brazen fashion."
